William R. Grimm
Tulsa, Oklahoma
Mr. Grimm practices primarily in business and commercial litigation. He received
his Juris Doctorate in 1973 and a Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting
and finance in 1970 from the University of Oklahoma.
Mr. Grimm is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Oklahoma, the United
States District Courts for the Northern, Eastern and Western Districts of Oklahoma,
the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court.
He is an active member of many professional and civic organizations.
Mr. Grimm served as President of the Oklahoma Bar Association in 2006. He served
on the board of governors for the Oklahoma Bar Association from 1996-98 and 2004
to 2007, as its President-Elect in 2005, and its Vice-President
in 2004. He received the 2004 OBA President's Distinguished Service Award for his
efforts in the creation of the Oklahoma Access to Justice Commission by the Oklahoma
Supreme Court. He was a fourteen-year member and past vice-chair of the Legal Ethics
and Unauthorized Practice Committee, member of the Professional Responsibility Tribunal,
and a five-time member of the Budget Committee. He was chairman of the 2005 Strategic
Planning Committee and also served as a contributing author on the 1999 Long Range
Planning Committee, and the Professional and Civility Task Force submission of Standards
of Professionalism adopted by the OBA Board of Governors and Oklahoma Judicial
Conference. Mr. Grimm served on the Board of Trustees of the Oklahoma Bar Foundation
for 2005-2006 and is a benefactor fellow. He received the OBF President's Distinguished
Service Award in 2006. Also, he is a member of the American Bar Association
where he attended the National Conference of Bar Presidents from 1991-93 and 2005
to 2007. He was selected as an American Bar Fellow in 2003.
As a member of the Tulsa County Bar Association, he served as president in 1991-92
and five years on the board of directors from 1988-93. He also chaired the organization's
Centennial Celebration, Professionalism, Nominations & Awards and Community Service
Committees, served as vice-chair of the Ethics Committee, and Grievance Committee,
and in both 1989 and 1990, received the Tulsa County Bar Association President's
Distinguished Service Award. He is a Tulsa County Bar Foundation charter fellow,
holding the office of president in 1992-93 and director from 1992-1998. He was the
2003 recipient of the Gary C. Clark Distinguished Service Award for his work on
the Centennial Celebration and the 2002 recipient of the TCBA Neil E. Bogan Professionalism
Award for his outstanding contributions and adherence to the highest ideals of the
legal profession.
He holds membership in the Tulsa Title and Probate Lawyers Association and American
Board of Trial Advocates. Also, he previously has served as member of the National
Association of Bankruptcy Trustees and the American Inns of Court-Hudson Chapter.
Mr. Grimm is certified as a Civil Trial Advocate by the National Board of Trial
Advocacy. In 2006, he was selected as a "Super Lawyer" by his colleagues in the
November 2006 publication of Law & Politics and Oklahoma Magazine. He is also
listed in Who's Who in American Lawyers.
In 2006, Mr. Grimm received from the Sigma Chi International Fraternity
the prestigious Significant Sig award for his professional achievements and contributions
to his community. He was also inducted into the Order of Constantine for outstanding
volunteer service to his Fraternity. He also has served terms as president,
vice-president and treasurer of the housing corporation, Beta Kappa of Sigma
Chi, Inc., at the University of Oklahoma, president and treasurer of the Tulsa Sigma
Chi Alumni Association and was the national recipient of the William T. Brigham
Best House Corporation Officer for 2000-01 from the Sigma Chi International Fraternity. He
served as a Trustee for Tulsa County on the Skiatook Area Reservoir Authority from
1981-87, the Vision 2000 Criminal Justice Task Force 1992-96, and Tulsa Lawyers
for Children. He is also a member of Boston Avenue Methodist Church.
Mr. Grimm frequently presents professional seminars for the Tulsa County
Bar Association and the Oklahoma Bar Association on issues of litigation and bankruptcy.
In 2004, he was on the faculty of the Oklahoma Judicial Conference Winter
Meeting. Additionally, he was a contributing author to the 2002 OBA Standards of
Professionalism and the 1999 OBA Strategic Plan. In 1990, he authored "A Practical
Approach to Professionalism," which appeared in the June issue of the Tulsa Lawyer.
